Since the thanksgiving tablescape was such a hit on social media or more importantly with me- it came out exactly how I envisioned it to (which does not always happen), I was under immense pressure for the Christmas tablescape. And since I had already announced I will be sharing it on the blog and social media channels there was no turning back. I would have liked this post to have gone live middle of last week, but by now you know how I delay things. The cold did not help either. Neither did final cut pro freezing on me several times while editing the videos. Nor did my mood (details on the instagram post). But here we are today, live with my Christmas decor DIY post.

For Christmas, I wanted to be a little more hands on with the decorations. I took to pinterest to find inspiration and found so much. Which can be a blessing and a curse. I wanted to do it all. But then there’s only so much one can do. I narrowed it to Air Dry Clay Ornaments, Clay candle houses, DIY White Yarn Trees and a christmas wreath.

Review of Katy Sue Design Moulds

As most of you who have been following my page know that few months back I started my home based baking business in India by the name of The Pink CakeBox (yes I know there is a fairly famous Pink Cake Box in the US, and honestly it did not strike me till only after it was too late to change, but we are not related – I wish we were but we are not).

Baking and decorating for TPC is the reason why I have been away from blogging these days. I try my best to post as often as I can, but this place still keeps getting neglected. I do miss blogging immensely, and while I enjoy baking for others (especially when you receive wonderful feedback), I do miss baking and cooking for myself. I also do miss styling and shooting the food I make. And truly wish I could do it more often.

To keep the blog more active, I did mention that I will post about my cakes and bakes here once in a while. So today I am sharing a review of these new Katy Sue Design moulds I bought from a local store in Chandigarh, Chef’s Gateway.

Though not many, but I do have a few silicon moulds for my cake decorating- you know the cheap ones- some bought off ebay or amazon, or a local craft shop that carries stuff that is made in china. For the price, they do get the job done fairly fine, but after spending a good deal on these katy sue moulds, I realize that quality does come with the price. And while the katy sue moulds are more expensive, they do deliver a good quality product and I am sold.

Generally I have to fairly dust the mould with corn starch to get the desired shape out and even then it does not always come out perfect, but when I used these moulds to make the pots, I didn’t use any dusting and the shapes came out fine. The same held true for the frame mould (the final product shown in the picture above). To be on the safer side, a light dusting will not hurt.

I am including a step by step process of using these molds, but in case this is not as helpful, there is a video tutorial on youtube which should explain the process better.

I know I haven’t posted for a long time.

One, I am in India. That is reason enough since there is always so much to do in India.

Two, I am at my parents’ place and for a while was busy with my one year old niece who too had come down to visit her grandparents. If reason one wasn’t enough the fact that my one year old niece was with me should explain a lot. Kids have that effect on me.

Three, the kitchen at my parents place was under renovation and the make-do kitchen already had two cooks and two helpers occupying it. There was no place for lil ol me! But I did manage to revisit a few of my old recipes and make it when guests came visiting.

Four, I got sick. In fact I am still unwell and my mom thinks sitting on the computer is not the way to treat my cough. I need to rest and that means doing absolutely nothing. Of course, I am not following that advice. I have been on my feet most of the time. What’s keeping me on my feet besides the random baking/cooking for guests is a small place called Umeed.
