With V busy during the week, weekends are when both of us get to enjoy all that the Dallas-Fort Worth Area has to offer together, with Sundays reserved for trying out new places to brunch. Last Sunday we got the opportunity to try PepperSmash – a cocktail Kitchen at the Shops at Legacy, Plano. I had heard good things about the place, especially their drinks menu and was excited to try the place out.
PepperSmash boasts of making some innovative and out of the box drinks, and while I would recommend this place more for dinner, only because getting drunk during the day might not always be the way of doing things, they do have a pretty interesting brunch menu and specials. Mimosas are $3 and their bloody Mary’s (made from roasted tomatoes and a must try) are just $5.

We started our meal with ordering a cocktail each. While I tried the cotton candy martini (our very helpful server Colin recommended it and I am glad I heeded his advice), V tried the Triple M explosion. Made with absolut, lemon juice, vanilla syrup, champagne and the star ingredient candy floss, the cotton candy martini not only is fun in appearance, it is fantastic in taste.
While I liked V’s triple M explosion (pineapple infused vodka frozen with liquid nitrogen) V enjoyed his next drink- the Fire smoked Dr Pepper more. I am not a bourbon drinker but even I loved V’s smoked bourbon and would highly recommend it.

Besides drinks both V and I enjoyed our food. The coriander chicken makes a nice appetizer and you can request it to be made more spicy. My favorite part of the meal though has to be their naan. Made traditionally in a tandoor, it is one of the best naans I have eaten here in the States. If PepperSmash was closer to home for us, I would be here again and again for the naan (and the drinks)
V and I both don’t have any allergies, but I found the menu not too gluten free or vegan friendly, though there are some interesting salads like the baby kale and naan salad to choose from. David, the manager, mentioned they are changing their menu come summer and hopefully one will see some allergy friendly additions. They are also working on a new cocktail menu for brunch to come out end of this month. Exciting!
